Film and conversation about our local economy

February 28 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm

After a super amazing Good Coast Film Festival last year SOMOS is back and keen to continue the conversation of what a localised economy looks like on the Gold Coast.

Come and join us for a free film screening of The Economics of Happiness produced by Helena Norberg-Hodge who is the founder and director of Local Futures. Local Futures works towards shifting the direction away from the dependence on global monopolies, and towards decentralised, regional economies.

The Economics of Happiness is an award-winning documentary film that spells out the social, spiritual, and ecological costs of today’s global economy. Importantly, the film also highlights the many benefits of a shift towards the local and showcases some of the steps people are already taking worldwide. Featuring interviews with Vandana Shiva, Bill McKibben, David Korten, Samdhong Rinpoche, and other inspiring thinkers and activists.

After the screening we will be opening a dynamic discussion on what does localisation mean and look like on the Gold Coast?
